MAELO & THE LATINO EXPERIMENTAL PROJECT

In the middle of the biggest melting pot of the world, drummer/composer Ismael “Maelo” Baiz joined forces with an outstanding line up of musicians and started developing a new sound of Afro-Latin beats mixed with Jazz, where experimentation and improvisation are the main ingredients.

With a repertoire that swings between NY Salsa and Afro-Venezuelan Rhythms, Maelo & The Latino Experimental Project presents a contemporary approach to South American and Afro-Latin music in a quintet version.

Coming from different places, geographically and musically, this interesting quintet blends the classical, contemporary, jazzy and funky with the Latino flavor in original compositions and interesting arrangements. Maelo & The Latino Experimental Project started performing on the NYC scene in December of 2014, and they are already working on their first EP that will be released in the Summer of 2015.
