About Kacia Flórez:

Kacia is a Colombian-Ecuadorian Queens native singer-songwriter, whose music is inspired by folkloric rhythms from her country of origin. Her inspirations come from her first music teacher, her father, who introduced Kacia to a diverse amount of Latin American genres from a young age. She also admires modern-day artists who fusion and have reintroduced folklore to our current generation such as Natalia Lafourcade and Mon Lafferte. Kacia has performed for the Ecuadorian American Cultural Center, The Queens Museum, The Museum of Human Achievement, and has been involved with ongoing community work through Queens-based art collective Kaleidospace. Today she is working on the release of her first EP, which includes her singles “Una Rosa” and “Mamita Tierra,” and currently continues to perform in an open mic she hosts at Terraza 7 every Thursday night.

About Kaleidospace:
Kaleidospace is a Queens-based collective focused on the intersection of art, activism, and community. We uplift artists of color and queer creatives, with the goal of enriching the lives of everyone in Queens. The team at Kaleidospace has dedicated the past three years to strengthening the artistic community and opening the doors for everyone to create, share and heal together.

From the start Kaleidospace was about showcasing the talents within our unique borough while encouraging local artists to stay connected with their community through their artistry. We want to invite folks from across NYC to enjoy the magic of our international communities and our indelible immigrant perspective through our interdisciplinary art work. We are a grassroots organization, meaning we built this collective from the ground up when we first gathered in our living rooms with no funding. All we had was the desire to expand opportunities for artists like us, to believe their work could be celebrated. Kaleidospace has nurtured hundreds of artists and community members, help us by paying it forward and allowing us to keep expanding.
