About Christos Rafalides:
Christos, born and raised in Greece, pursued his passion for percussion, eventually receiving a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston. There, he earned a BA in Jazz Vibraphone Performance. He furthered his education in New York, graduating with an MA in Jazz Vibraphone Performance from Manhattan School of Music.
Christos made his mark with 'Manhattan Vibes,' a band that graced New York's renowned stages like the Blue Note and Jazz Standard. Notable career highlights include performances alongside the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra and Wynton Marsalis, a US tour with the Charles Mingus 'Epitaph' Band, and collaborations with artists like Chaka Khan.
His partnership with Greece's legendary composer Mimis Plessas resulted in the albums 'Ηχώ/Echo: the music of Mimis Plessas' and 'We Two.' In 'Point Two,' he collaborates with bassist Petros Klampanis, fusing Middle Eastern, Greek, and Latin influences.
Beyond 'Point Two,' Christos has embarked on various projects, including 'Silver Lining,' a piano/vibraphone duo with Giovanni Mirabassi, 'Sonic Convergence' with bassist Petros Klampanis and a string quartet, and the 'S O L O' project, merging acoustic vibraphone with electronics. His collaborative project 'Home' will debut in 2023.
Christos' influence extends to education, with guest faculty roles at the 'Zeltsman Marimba Festival' and an Artist Residency at the 'Music Village' in Greece. His compositions for mallets are published by Emarel Music.
Endorsed by Ludwig-Musser Vibraphones and Pearl MalletStation, Christos continues to shape the world of jazz and percussion from his home in New York City.
