Sol, La Argentinita, and Nueva York Flamenco City$15
Sol, La Argentinita, was born Glenda Sol Koeraus in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Now based in New York City, Sol performs and tours with numerous Flamenco dance companies, and has been performing with the Metropolitan Opera for the past two seasons in Zeferelli’s producton of La Traviata. Since summer 2008 through winter 2009, she danced with the internationally renowned company Soledad Barrio and Noche Flamenca in numerous tours and productions. Sol is a two-time recipient of the Cristina Heeren Foundation scholarship as well as a scholarship recipient of the Jerome Foundation’s Travel and Study Grant and the school at Jacob’s Pillow.
Raphael Brunn, Flamenco Guitarist and Composer, is from a well-known family of jugglers, dancers and trapeze artists. An American kid with lots of rhythm, Raphael started playing bass guitar at the age of ten. At fourteen, Raphael moved to Europe to join his father, a world-renowned juggler and acrobat who had been using live Flamenco music in his performances since seeing Antonio Ruiz and Carmen Amaya dance in the 1950’s. While working with his father, Raphael was exposed to some of Spain’s finest Flamenco artists including El Manzanita, El Recortao, Pepe Marquez and many more.
Alfonso Cid was born and raised in Sevilla, the heartland of flamenco music. He also had the opportunity of attending the activities of one the most significant flamenco clubs in Andalusia, the Peña Flamenca Torres-Macarena in Seville. Alfonso has toured extensively throughout the USA, Latin America, Israel and Europe, and has just toured Spain last February of 2018 with the Jazz/Flamenco band New Bojaira by pianist Jesús Hernández from Granada, Spain.
