Rafael Fusa Miranda Afroperuvian Jazz$10
Rafael Fusa is a jazz alto sax player born in Lima, Peru. He started to play saxophone at the age of 14 later on at the age of 19 he was playing and touring around Peru with artists such as Peruvian Symphony Orchestra and peruvian andean folklore with Duo Hermanos Gaitan Castro, rock artists like Micky Gonzalez and grammy winners like Susana Baca and Maria Schneider.
Fusa was also one of the founders of the peruvian group Bareto, famous for their versions of peruvian cumbia classics. Fusa recorded 4 albums with them and played in different venues around Peru and the United States. The band also received numerous award in his country.
As a jazz musician Fusa played in numerous jazz festivals in Peru in venues like Jazzone, Cocodrilo Verde, Dedalo, Icpna, United States embassy, Belgian embassy, Gran teatro nacional, Teatro Segura and more.
As an educator Fusa is working in Pontificia Universidad catolica del Peru where he teaches saxophone and conducts jazz ensambles.
In 2018 he will release his debut album, this album was recorded in nyc with Henry Cole on the drums, Luis Perdomo on Piano and Edward Perez and Jorge Roeder on acoustic bass. In this record Fusa shows his compositions influenced by afroperuvian music, andean music like Danza de Tijeras and some arrangements of jazz standards.
