Flamenco Latino’s unique style of flamenco with jazz and Latin flavors is a modern interpretation of “La Ida y Vuelta (Round Trip).” Flamenco versions of rumba and tangos are part of The Round Trip. More than 200 years ago, Spanish artists were first exposed to rhythms, hip movements, and melodies from Latin America.
Basilio Georges, “El Guapo de Milwaukee,” came to NY in 1974 as a jazz musician and worked in jazz clubs and salsa dance halls. His flamenco career includes living in Madrid and Sevilla and composing for NY productions by Carlota Santana Flamenco Vivo, Andrea Del Conte Danza España, and Thalia Spanish Theatre.
Born in NY of Spanish heritage, Aurora Reyes began dancing in African American, jazz and modern styles, but settled with flamenco. She has worked at Corral de la Pacheca in Madrid, toured with Jose Molina Bailes Españoles, and in NY with Flamenco Vivo, Danza España, and Thalia Spanish Theatre.
Guillermo Barron, Mexican drummer, and percussionist have worked at the Blue Note Jazz Festival, BB King’s and Joe’s Pub, and with Jarana Beat, Project Grand Slam and SUPERMAMBO.
Eden Bareket, the Argentina-born Israeli baritone saxophonist, has worked with the traditional Eyal Vilner Big-Band, the adventurous Ari Hoenig Nonet, and with Anbessa Orchestra, featuring Ethiopian grooves. His new Cd is called “Night.”
